GURGAON: With the Commonwealth Games over, the tenant and servant verificationThe Times of India drive in the city has been hit for a six.

With the police going slow on the process of verifying the credentials of the maids, the rate of corruption seem to gone up in the city. Earlier this week, a maid was involved in a burglary at a senior citizens house in phase-2. The maid along with two others accomplices tried to break into the house on Poorvi Marg but a neighbour alerted the victim on hearing the commotion, and the culprits were caught red-handed. On sustained interrogation, it was found that he was working as a maid in a guesthouse on Jacaranda Marg and that his credentials have not been verified.

While both the police as well as the agencies involved in the verification process insist that they have not given up on the drive, sources indicate that the whole process has lost its steam and also that incorrect information were submitted to the police before the Games.

Before the CWG, we launched a drive to verify the credentials of tenants and maids. However, we found that many of these tenants submitted wrong evidences including false photographs just to get our approval stamp. It is also true that a number of maids who were earlier sent back, are now coming back and this will certainly lead to an increase in thefts and burglaries, admitted a police official.
