COIMBATORE: Two days after the abduction and double murder of a seven-year-old
school boy and his sister by a taxi driver in Coimbatore, investigations have revealed that the 10-year-old girl was raped before she was thrown into a canal near Coimbatore. A call taxi driver, Mohana Krishnan, who kidnapped the children, and his accomplice, R Manoharan, have been arrested."We have arrested both the men," commissioner of police Sylendra Babu said. The Coimbatore police also retrieved the body of seven-year-old R Hrithik Jain from the canal at Kedimedu in Tirupur district on Sunday morning. On Saturday afternoon, the body of his sister R Muskan Jain was fished out from the canal. The postmortem of her body revealed that she had been raped before she was pushed into the swirling waters.
A case of rape, murder and abduction has been registered against Mohana Krishnan (23) and Manoharan (23). The driver, Mohana Krishan, was known to the family and used to take the siblings to school when a driver engaged by the children's father, P Ranjith Kumar, was absent from work.
It was when the regular driver went on a 15-day holiday that his stand-in hatched a plot to kidnap the businessman's children for ransom. Police said upon questioning, Mohana Krishnan confessed to the crime. Sources said the accused had taken the children to Pollachi where he was joined by his accomplice, Manoharan, a tractor driver. The two then took the children to Ankalakurichi, where they tied up Hrithik and left him in the boot of the LPG-driven vehicle. Later, they raped Muskan, police said.
