the_times_of_indiaTimes of India : German authorities have arrested three people who worked for Hewlett-Packard as part of an investigation into alleged kickbacks paid in connection with a contract to supply equipment to Russian law enforcement, a prosecutor said on Thursday.

The kickbacks allegedly totaled 8 million, or $10.9 million, over a period that stretched from 2000 to 2006 or 2007, according to Wolfgang Klein, a prosecutor who is spokesman for the Dresden states attorney's office.

He said the investigation focuses on nine people, three of whom worked for HP in positions able to influence contract negotiations and delivery.

"Those three were arrested on fraud charges in Germany and Switzerland in December, but have since been released on bail," Klein said.
