| Case 5
|
| Updated in February 2006 |
| |
| A Software Engineer with a software
company submits a forged relieving letter. |
| |
During the verification process, in
the absence of a HR Executive, the proprietor of the
company was contacted to check the employment details.
The proprietor verified the individual had worked with
him and was an average candidate. However, the
employment tenure and the emoluments mentioned in the
letter were found to be discrepant.
|
| |
The relieving letter was scanned and
sent for further verification. Though, the signature was
confirmed as genuine, the font used for the name of the
candidate and the tenure mentioned were found
inconsistent with office norms.
|
| |
It was further confirmed that the
candidate had discontinued his tenure in the month of
September and joined another small company, which shut
shop soon after. A month later the candidate revisited
the erstwhile employer and requested for another
relieving letter for the extended period. The employer
surmised his refusal to issue a false relieving letter
compelled the candidate to forge the letter covering his
short tenure with the defunct company.
